When you get pregnant, you might be impatient and curious to know the sex of the baby you are expecting. Many people enjoy looking at a Chinese Conception Chart also called a Chinese pregnancy calendar to find out whether they are going to get pregnanct with a boy or a girl. The pregnancy calendar is based on the myth that it was discovered in an ancient tomb, has been buried for over a 1000 years and is over 97 per cent accurate.

However, these claims are not entirely correct. Many people have used it and found that the results were accurate for one child and not for the other. With the probability of being right at 50 per cent of the time, it will only be right every other time you use it.
Using the calendar is simple. All you need to know is the mother’s age when she conceived and the month in which the baby was conceived. Then run your finger across the chart, and where these two points coincide and you have your prediction from the Chinese pregnancy calendar.
Take the Chinese pregnancy calendar with a grain of salt and just take it as light entertainment. By no means should you start painting the nursery walls or finalizing names based on this calendar as many people have opposite results
Even Ultrasound Technicians Make Mistakes
When a technologically advanced system like the ultrasound can make mistakes of determining the sex of the child, an ancient chart should not expect to be more accurate. Some people may take it too seriously by trying extra hard for a baby in a particular month if they desperately want a girl or a boy.
For example, according to the Chinese pregnancy calendar at one online site, if you are 21, apart from January, there is no other time of the year that you can have a boy. This is highly unlikely as even though there are more women than men in this world, such an 11 out of 12 probability for a girl is fictitious by all accounts
Another tell-tale sign that the Chinese pregnancy calendar is not based on facts is that different websites have different charts! If you are 25 and conceived in March, website A will predict you’re having a boy whereas website B will put its bets on a girl.
Medical science has proven that the sex of the child is determined by the sperm of the father and no chart or Chinese pregnancy calendar can alter that. So if you want a definitive prediction of the sex of your baby, wait until you are far enough along in your pregnancy, an ultrasound or sonargram will be able to give you a better result. Most of all, just concentrate on the happy occasion of welcoming a healthy and happy new addition to your family.
