Are you trying for a baby? For a lot of women, the first sign that they are pregnant is when they miss their period. A lot of women have very regular cycles and they will know the exact day their period will start. For some women who have irregular cycles, they often won’t know they are pregnant until some of the other signals occur.
The first day of the period is also the day that you are able to take and receive accurate results of a home pregnancy test. If however you do bleed a little or spot in the first month, don’t worry too much. This is usually the only time it is normal to bleed. Although it is rare, some women may bleed throughout their entire pregnancy. If this happens to you, you should consult your doctor so that they can monitor your pregnancy.
For some other women, the first sign of pregnancy you may experience is nausea or morning sickness and this is a common complaint of pregnant women during the first trimester. If you do get morning sickness, always have something to eat to keep your blood sugars up. This has been found to reduce the feelings of nausea. Keep a packet of dry crackers by the bed and have a couple before you get out of bed. You should also remember to always replenish your fluid intake if you experience vomiting during pregnancy. When you vomit, your body and your unborn baby will lose the electrolytes that are needed to stay healthy.
Unusually Sore or Tender Breasts
Most women notice that they have unusually sore or tender breasts. This is the first sign of pregnancy for many. Your breasts may even swell, and this is normal and so don’t be alarmed you. You will begin to see a difference in your breasts over the next nine months, so just know what to expect. You should know that your breasts will grow during the next few months and this is normal because your body is getting ready for you to produce milk. The blood flow increases and this can cause minor discomfort. If it is anything more than that, you should consult your doctor to be sure you are progressing normally. Now that you are Pregnant, what next?
The first sign of pregnancy should warrant a call to your doctor. They give you some guidance on how the pregnancy will proceed. After this, one of the first thing you should do is get some prenatal vitamins. Your unborn baby needs certain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients for it to grow and you should make sure that you get enough of these through your diet or supplements. Depending on how far along you are, you may be able to hear the foetal heartbeat at your very first appointment. Your doctor or midwife should advise you about the proper prenatal care and how they can support you through the pregnancy.
